In 2019 Henry Box school, Witney, had a requirement for a brand new 68 camera, site wide CCTV system, as their existing system was quite old and had stopped working properly.
We had previously spent many years supplying and installing network cabling, fibre optic cabling and infrastructure at the school and they knew that CCTV was our core business activity, so they included us, along with three other companies the opportunity to tender for the supply and installation of the new system. The school were very thorough with their specification, which included lots of detail about the requirements of each camera and also the system as a whole. We initially carried out an extensive site survey, looking at every camera position that the school required. We carefully considered each location and offered advice, suggesting small changes where a benefit could be achieved. We also pinned down exactly how and where the new cabling would run from and to, so that a cost could be attached to each camera, fully installed and working. After a lot of work to get to a competitive quotation for the entire system, we submitted our tender. A few months passed and the school had evaluated all the submitted tenders. We were very pleased when we received a phone call to let us know that our tender had been successful.
The deadline for completion was mid August and all cabling and installation work had to be carried out during school holidays, so we made plans to start cabling over the holiday times that were available to us and carried out the final installation and commissioning during the first half of the summer holidays that year.
Everything went to plan and the installation was completed before the deadline date. The school are very happy with the installation, which hasn’t missed a beat and three years later has been extended to include 30+ more cameras.
At the schools request, we attend the site annually, during the summer holidays, to carry out a full service and inspection of the system. The service includes looking at day and night recorded footage on each camera, taking note of any issues, then we visit each camera and clean the camera bodies, brackets and lenses, making any requested alterations. On completion we check live view of each camera to check for correct operation and that our cleaning/ alterations are correct.
"It has been my great pleasure to have used Low Voltage for data cabling work in excess of ten years.
Low Voltage have always provided prompt service, carried out when scheduled and to an excellent standard of work. Low Voltage have proven to be a reliable installer and have provided excellent follow up support on the few occasions required.
The school invested in a new IP based CCTV system, based on 68 cameras in 2019 with Low Voltage (Oxfordshire CCTV) being the winner of the tendering process. The installation of the project was carried out in well managed stages; installation of data cabling, installation of CCTV cameras and finally alignment / testing of cameras. Risk assessments and method of working documents were provided ahead of start of work as were feedback sessions regarding the progress of the project. Maintenance of the Cameras was included within the tender specification and this has been carried out on schedule and to a high standard of work.
The HIK Vision system has proven highly reliable in operation with no downtime since installation in July 2019."
